The Patrol division of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office maintains a strong presence in the neighborhoods and community. Each deputy is certified by the Peace Officers Standards Training Commission "POST".
As a Monroe County deputy, the focus is to be on developing a positive relationship with the citizens of the county. Deputies will assist the public while enforcing the traffic and criminal laws of Tennessee. Patrolling officers are to work toward limiting criminal activity and maximize safety in particular areas, protecting both people and property. Patrol involves police officers visiting an area not only to respond to a specific call but to travel through the area and observe it. A key aspect of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office patrol division is providing a high visibility for the police force in a neighborhood. Visible patrolling officers provide residents, visitors, and others in an area a strengthened sense of safety and security.
