The Monroe County School Resource Officers (SROs) are sworn law enforcement officers and members of the communities who are responsible for safety and crime prevention in schools. The roles and responsibilities of the school resource officer vary from school to school. Some functions served by the SRO include but are not limited to: law enforcement officer, public safety specialist, violence prevention and substance abuse educator community liaison, problem solver, law-related educator, and positive role model. Our SROs work closely with school administrators in an effort to create a safer learning environment and play an important role in school safety plans throughout Monroe County.
