The Monroe County Sheriff's Office and the Boys & Girls Club of Monroe Area are hosting outings designed to introduce children to law enforcement. Cookouts were held at Rural Vale School on Tuesday (July 10th) in Tellico Plains, and also on Thursday (July 12th) at Vonore Elementary School.
Boys and girls met the Sheriff and many of his staff, became honorary deputies, and played games. The events were the first of four outings in a community outreach program to build a positive relationship between officers and children. Two more such events will be held with the Boys & Girls Club on Tuesday July 17th in Madisonville (between Intermediate and Middle Schools), and Thursday July 19th in Sweetwater.
