The Sheriffs Office was on hand for Monroe County Animal Shelter's adoption event on Saturday, September 7th. Directors of Monroe County Friends of Animals (MCFA) and shelter volunteers introduced many adoptable dogs and cats to WBIR-TV's Anna Kate and spoke about the shelter's programs and many needs. Sheriff Tommy Jones explained the importance of the shelter to the community and how the Sheriffs Office lends its support.
K9 Handler Corporal Clint Brookshire introduced his partners, bloodhound Cedar and Belgian Malinois Eros. He explained their extensive training and important roles with the Sheriffs Office, from search and rescue to tracking criminals to locating narcotics. Sheriff Jones donned a "bite suit" for an impressive demonstration of Eros' keen abilities to apprehend and subdue a suspect.
